Conciliation narratives in settler societies

Ann McGrath and Maria Nugent will be presenting papers at the ‘Conciliation Narratives in Settler Societies’ symposium at the National Museum of Australia on 18 and 19 November 2010.

Convened by Professor Kate Darian-Smith, Dr Julie Evans and Dr Penelope Edmonds, the symposium seeks to explore how the legacies of British colonial negotiations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples have contributed to nation-building, legal interpretations, and the popular historical imagination both within and between these varied Pacific Rim locations over two centuries to the present.

Tiffany Shellam and new baby Luciana Joan Guena. We were impressed by Tiffany's stamina; Tiffany, who is ACIH's first graduate, presented an excellent paper at the Conciliation Narratives Conference. She holds a tenured position at Deakin University.
